Do you hear what I hear? It’s the sound of momentum. As we close out 2011 there seems to be a growing sense of momentum around the church. Murphysboro Christian Academy once again demonstrated the difference they are making in Southern Illinois families at our Fall MCA Sunday last week. KUDOS to Mrs. Noble and her great staff for all of the impressive work they are doing. There has also been a recent influx of new students.
Exciting Sundays keep coming! This Sunday is Friend Day! The Lord has given me a special Word for this Sunday that I can’t wait to share. To top it off, many in our congregation will end the service sharing “Cardboard Testimonies.” You will not want to miss this Sunday. Don’t forget to bring a friend. We will be having a special cookie and punch reception for all of our guests immediately following church. As one person texted me today, “you better be ready, I’m bringing a van load of friends this Sunday.”
Nov 13 will be another amazing Sunday. We are going to have the largest baptism service we have had in several years. It’s not to late to sign up if you want to be baptized. The children will stay in the auditorium on this day so we can all be a part of this special Sunday.
November 20th will be our Thanksgiving Sunday and November 28 kicks off our Christmas season. Our Christmas series will be a fitting conclusion to the Year of the Presence which will be called “God With Us”. Pastor Lawrence Nolan of Servants For Christ will be preaching in our December 11th service.
On the evening of December 11 we are having a special Christmas production called “Joy” This will replace our annual Christmas banquet as our family celebration of the season. You will not want to miss this wonderful event. Tickets are only $5.00.
If that were not enough, both Christmas day and New Year’s day fall on Sundays. Christmas morning we are going to have a wonderful one hour celebration of Christ’s birth so that we can honor Christ’s birth and honor time with families. I hope we fill every seat for both Christmas and New Years.
Finally, on January 8th, we will go back to our two service schedule. Buckle your seat belts. Christ Community is on the grow!
